The Clean Boot Blog
Here’s a little bit about my experience auditioning for the Dragon’s Den today!
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Dragon’s Den, it is a Canadian television show that showcases aspiring Canadian entrepreneurs as they pitch their products to five of Canada’s biggest multi-millionaires. If selected on the show, the Dragon’s offer their support to these entrepreneurs through their connections, investment loans, and marketing expertise.
The Dragon’s Den is now in the process of sending their producers throughout Canada, in search of the next products to hit the market BIG.
This morning I packed up my gear and headed down to Georgian College to promote the CleanBoot. I anticipated waiting a long time to pitch the CleanBoot; however, they called me up first! As you can imagine I was a little bit nervous. My plans to set up an elaborate visual display to show the benefits of the CleanBoot neoprene safety boot covers changed because the location of the room ended up being on the third floor of the building. Regardless, the pitch went great!
I walked into the room, introduced myself to the junior producers, had a couple of laughs and let them know why the CleanBoot is a product that simply makes sense for contractors on so many different levels. The product is washable, re-usable, and an environmentaly friendly option to the competition which is a paper and plastic model, that tears and leaks. The CleanBoot also has a patented non-slip grip sole so that contractors can continue to maintain the integrity of their safety boots (so they are covered by their insurance), while keeping their customer’s homes clean.
During the pitch, the junior producers were both professional and practical. They seemed to really ‘get’ the product. After the pitch they collected samples of the CleanBoot, and took a photo with me and my promotional materials.
I should hear back quite soon about whether the CleanBoot will be showcased on the Dragon’s Den next season. I’m excited about the possibilities that an opportunity like working with the Dragon’s will bring forth. I had a great vibe about today’s audition, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the CleanBoot makes it on the show. It is a product that has really helped me in my electrical contracting business, and from the popularity I’ve witnessed this product, I know that it will continue to help other contractors benefit in the same way!
Wish me luck!
This New Year I want to make sure that I show my customers that I respect their home. I’ve become clean-boot certified. My customers know they can trust me to keep my safety boots on with the addition of a neoprene boot cover so I don’t dirty up their homes. This video shows how this product is helping me and other tradesman keep a good reputation with our customers in 2013.
